Air Canada (TSX:AC) will start resuming operations Sunday evening after the Canadian government stepped in to end a strike by flight attendants that had caused hundreds of flight cancellations.
The Montreal-based airline said in a statement early Sunday that flights would gradually ramp up over the coming days.
However, it expects operations will take several days to return to normal.
The labor dispute began early Saturday when approximately 10,500 flight attendants walked off the job after pay negotiations between their union and Canada’s largest airline failed.
The Canada Industrial Relations Board directed Air Canada to resume airline operations and ordered all Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge flight attendants to return to work by 2:00 p.m. in Montreal.
