United Airlines (NASDAQ:UAL) on Wednesday evening suspended departures of its mainline flights across major U.S. airports following a technology malfunction, according to the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and the carrier.
The issue, tied to the weight and balance computer system, prompted the FAA to impose ground stops at major hubs including Newark, Chicago O’Hare, Denver, Houston, and San Francisco.
The airline confirmed that flights already in the air would continue their journey, and that regional Express flights were unaffected, although delays were expected due to knock-on effects.
