U.S. crude oil futures were roughly unchanged from post-settlement levels Tuesday even as the American Petroleum Institute reported a smaller draw than expected in weekly domestic crude inventories.
Crude Oil WTI Futures, the U.S. benchmark, recently traded at $63.30 a barrel following the report after settling down 2.4% at $63.25 barrel.
U.S. crude inventories fell by 974,000 barrels for the week ended Aug. 23, compared with a draw of 2.4M barrels reported by the API for the previous week. That missed expectations for a draw of 1.7M barrels.
The official government inventory report is due Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. EDT (1430 GMT).
