Perplexity, the San Francisco-based startup that runs an artificial intelligence-powered search engine, has secured commitments from investors for $200 million in new funding at a $20 billion valuation, The Information reported on Wednesday, citing a person familiar with the matter.
The round comes less than two months after the three-year-old company raised money at an $18 billion valuation. Perplexity has raised over $1 billion to date, according to the report.
The startup has tapped capital frequently in recent months to cover high operating costs. It has also made acquisitions, including browser firm Sidekick and Carbon, which develops software to help large language models ingest data from applications, the report added.
