U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that Uzbekistan Airways agreed to buy up to 22 Boeing Co (NYSE:BA) 787 Dreamliners for more than $8 billion.
Trump made the announcement in a social media post, stating that the deal had come after talks with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev earlier this month.
Boeing announced the deal in a separate announcement, stating that Uzbekistan Airways will initially purchase 14 787-9 airplanes with an option to acquire eight more jets.
Boeing and Trump said the deal will create around 35,000 U.S. jobs. The deal was signed on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York City, the U.S. Commerce Department said separately.
