The U.S. dollar reversed course on Monday, retreating from a three-month high after President Donald Trump suggested that the conflict with Iran was nearing an end.

The greenback had initially gained due to safe-haven demand amid an escalating U.S.-Israel war with Iran that sparked a rally in oil prices. The dollar turned sharply lower after Trump’s comments.

At 17:24 ET (21:24 GMT), the Dollar Index, which tracks the greenback against a basket of six other currencies, traded 0.1% lower to 99.557. The index wiped out an advance of as much as 0.6% that had earlier pushed it to its highest level since late November 2025.
