Anthropic has signed an agreement with SpaceX to access Colossus 1, an AI supercomputer featuring over 220,000 NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA) GPUs, the companies announced Wednesday.

The deal provides Anthropic with more than 300 megawatts of new capacity within the month. The company said it will use the additional compute to improve capacity for Claude Pro and Claude Max subscribers.

Colossus 1 includes H100, H200, and GB200 accelerators. The cluster is designed for large language model training, multimodal systems, scientific simulations, and generative AI workloads.

As part of the agreement, Anthropic expressed interest in partnering with SpaceX to develop multiple gigawatts of orbital AI compute capacity. The company said compute required for next-generation systems is outpacing what terrestrial power, land, and cooling can deliver.

Anthropic also announced Wednesday it is doubling Claude Code’s five-hour rate limits for Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans. The company is removing peak hours limit reduction on Claude Code for Pro and Max accounts and raising API rate limits for Claude Opus models.

The SpaceX deal joins Anthropic’s other compute agreements, including an up to 5 gigawatt agreement with Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) that includes nearly 1 gigawatt of new capacity by the end of 2026, a 5 gigawatt agreement with Alphabet’s (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Google and Broadcom (NASDAQ:AVGO) beginning in 2027, a partnership with Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) and NVIDIA that includes $30 billion of Azure capacity, and a $50 billion investment in American AI infrastructure with Fluidstack.
